TicketRails (2021)

  • Developed and deployed a low-cost Kitchen Display System (KDS) using off-the-shelf tablets for a family-owned restaurant in Cupertino.
  • Reduced tail latency by 3x in the kitchen.
  • Provided online ordering with SMS order progress tracking, which reduced customer contact and wait time at the restaurant in response to COVID-19.

PrivacyProxy (2015-2016)

  • My senior thesis at CMU, advised by Prof. Jason Hong and Prof. Yuvraj Agarwal.
  • Researched a novel technique to detect information leaks from malicious Android apps.
  • Winner of the CMU School of Computer Science Award for Undergraduate Excellence.

PrivacyGrade.org (2014-2015)

  • A project from the CMU CHIMPS Lab that scored Android apps based on how well they respect user’s privacy.
  • Maintained the backend that fetched more than a million Android apps for analysis.

Chinese Calligraphy App (2013)

  • Helped an university in Taiwan to port an app for teaching Chinese Calligraphy from Windows to Android.
  • The user writes a character on the touchscreen and the app rates their writing based on models of famous calligraphers.
  • Designed a new interface in Android while interfacing with existing code written in C++.

Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) (2010-2012)

  • Captain for an underwater ROV team participating in the MATE competition.
  • Designed our own waterproof components such as cameras and on-board circuitry to accomplish various tasks in a simulated underwater oil leak.

Facebook Terminal (2013)

  • A “geek-friendly” interface for Facebook.
  • Built a javascript app that presents a shell-like interface in which users can access Facebook by issuing commands such as ls, cd, mv, etc.

Photo Ordering Website (2010-2012)

  • A website for students at my high school to shop prom photos online.
  • Users can tag their friends in photos so it’s easier to find them.

Volume Control (2010)

  • Prevented hearing damage by automatically lowering the volume when switching from speakers to earphones, before such a feature became standard on Android devices.
